VAI Resort in Glendale pushes opening date, unveils new renderings of project
The new VAI Resort in Glendale's growing sports and entertainment district now has an opening date of 2024 as the developer continues making progress on construction.
VAI is expected to be the largest resort in the state's history once fully built out, similar to a Las Vegas-style concept.
It will feature more than 1,100 rooms with suites and villas, a 5-acre water feature, a large music and entertainment venue with 16 ticket and seating options, 12 signature restaurants, 10 bar and lounge areas, high-end shopping, a luxury spa, a nightclub and the first ever Mattel Adventure Park.
VAI Global Development, which is owned by construction firm Fisher Industries, is developing the 60-acre project along the Loop 101 just south of State Farm Stadium.
Grant Fisher, president and CEO of VAI Global Development, said they have made about 40% progress on construction and have started building the second and third hotels. The Mattel Adventure Park was also topped off. Next year, VAI will have a phased opening with two full hotel towers and most of the site's attractions and amenities open with some commercial shell space available for future expansion or partnerships.
