The housing market is still hot. Here's the best time of the year to buy.
The best time of year to buy a home is right now – at least according to a new study by national property database Attom Data Solutions LLC.
In October, buyers ultimately paid the smallest premiums above the value of their home compared to other months, according to Attom. Nationwide, buyers closing in October paid a median sales price of $210,000 — a 2.9% premium over the median value for homes of about $204,000.
But while October is the best overall month to close on a home, Attom found the second-best month to close on a home was December, where buyers paid 3.4% above the median value of the home, followed by November and January, when buyers paid about 3.9% above the value of the home.
Those small relatively small differences could translate to big dollars in the current housing market, given the dramatic increases in recent years.
