Hyper-growth West Valley cities focus on securing water, workforce
Labor is a top reason why companies are choosing to move to or expand in the Phoenix metro, particularly in fast-growing areas like the West Valley.
For the past two decades, West Valley cities such as Goodyear and Surprise have seen their populations explode with more diversity among new residents. Because of this, in addition to an expanded freeway system and affordable and available land, more businesses have moved west of Phoenix as other municipalities have run out of space and companies relocate out of California.
This is why the area has mostly seen activity from logistics, manufacturing, health care and education employers — some of the most dominant industries west of Interstate 17, where nearly 2 million people reside across 15 communities and 3,000 square miles.
