Chicago developer breaks ground on first Arizona project near Mesa Gateway Airport
At full occupancy, a new industrial park near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport could bring 1,000 new jobs to the area.
Chicago-based Logistics Property Co. broke ground Thursday on its first Arizona project. The Palm Gateway Logistics Center is located near the northeast corner of Sossaman and Pecos roads. The development is made up of four buildings, totaling more than 600,000 square feet, with buildings ranging in size from 92,841 to 288,360 square feet.
"It's a great area. There are a lot of retail amenities. You have access to airports, infrastructure and great roads — all things which attract employees and therefore attract businesses," said Brad Cushard, senior vice president of Logistics Property's Mountain Region.
With the project breaking ground on Thursday, Logistics Property expects to deliver Palm Gateway to the market by the fourth quarter of 2023 and have tenants take occupancy by the first quarter of 2024.
Bill Jabjiniak, Mesa's director of economic development, said his office has been fielding inquiries for companies in batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, aerospace and aviation to possibly move operations to Mesa.
